“GNOSIS”, a show featuring Blood Guts Toys, Deathcat Toys, Grizlli Atom, kto kto, and Snatchpunch, with special guests Aaron Brookes, Monsterisland, Popsoda, and Purple Toys opens today at Toy Art Gallery in LA! There’s going to be a huge variety of items and lots of sofubi debuts by several artists, here’s what’s going to happen:
Izumo of Blood Guts Toys will, of course, be releasing some new Shikabane Kaiju figures and has also brought his most recent work to the US: Ningyo! Featuring an articulated head and arms, it’s surprisingly big in size and quite a looker, even though I can’t say for sure that they’ll be for sale at the show as well.
As for Johan Ulrich of Deathcat Toys, he will be releasing his very first soft vinyl figures at the event: the Akumaneko set! Inspired by Go Nagai’s Devilman series, they’ve been produced by TAG and sculpted by Grizlli Atom, including the two mini figures by the names of Psychosophie and Owlene. Both painted and unpainted versions should be for sale!
Grizlli Atom himself will be releasing some new stuff as well, that being a set of “Goonsquad” figures (one of them shown on the left and currently not in vinyl), plus his Plague Doctor figure in collaboration with Toy Art Gallery! Pretty great show, any leftovers should go online on Monday at Noon PST.
Gorgoloid presents a new wave of Kaiju Rhaal figures, which will be up for grabs on Wednesday, April 15th at 6pm Pacific Time! Four one-offs with sizes of 5 inches will be making their way to his online shop for $80 each, having been cast in marble dyed resin with additional Monster Kolor paints!
The people over at Dutch toy store Mintyfresh have announced their first exclusives for ToyCon UK 2015 as well – having collaborated with Junnosuke Abe of Restore once again, they’ve managed to grab an extremely limited edition of the Neo Japan figure: the “Spirit Ager” colorway! Made of clear vinyl with pink sprays and additional black and golden details, it appears to have a chest insert as well and will be priced at £80 each. Furthermore, their friends at Mighty Jaxx have sent them an exclusive edition of Yoskay Yamamoto’s “Wish Upon Me (Gold)” figure, limited to 100 pieces and having a price tag of £80, too!
Zectron and Eric Nilla have joined forces for the newest colorway of the Rotten-X figure! Including a body by Skull Head Butt and featuring a head which has been designed by Triclops Studios and sculpted by Zextron, this release has been painted by Jon of Rampage Toys over milky light pink vinyl with red lamé in an edition of only 5 pieces. Eric Nilla created a four-piece header card with sliding window and to top it all off, each toy includes 3 additional golden keshi minis: Zectron’s Critter, a Cheestroyer by Bad Teeth Comics and a Rise Of the Beasts Cahriv figure by Plastic Imagination!
Priced at only $95 plus shipping, interested parties should send an email with their information to
RottenXlottery@yahoo.com before Saturday for a chance at winning one of these!
I apologize for the lack of posts recently, I’ve been pretty busy with work and there probably won’t be any posts over the course of this weekend. I’ll be back on Monday or Tuesday – see you soon!
Bob Conge aka Plaseebo is back with a new micro run: the Baby Molezilla! A mash-up cast in resin from his Night Gamer and Molezilla figures, Baby Molezilla stands 5″ tall and has been priced at $250 in an edition of 5 pieces. To enter this lottery, email your name and address to firstname.lastname@example.org before Monday, February 9th!
New from Dave Dick over at Planet 3 Toys comes the Satori Kappa resin figure! Sculpted with a size of around 2.75″ and produced in Los Angeles by the folks of Pretty in Plastic, they’ve got handpainted details and will ship bagged, with a button and a certificate of authenticity/mini print by the artist. Limited to an edition of 40, you can now grab your Kappa for the price of $80 here!
“The Kappa is one of Japan’s yokai and are said to inhabit the country’s rivers and streams. Legendary trouble makers, Kappa are responsible for everything from general harassment to drowning people and animals, kidnapping children, and the ravishing of women. Now, not all Kappa are mischievous, murdering, kidnappers. Throughout history there have been some who have befriended human beings, helping and even teaching them.”
Super7 have teamed up with DKE and Scott Wilkowski for an exclusive “Infected Halloween” Dokuwashi release! Cast entirely in resin with translucent orange color on the outside and a glow-in-the-dark skeleton on its inside, Super7 will be offering them as a made-to-order edition from October 27th at Noon through midnight on Halloween night, October 31st. Dokuwashi measures 4″ tall and is priced at $85 with a planned delivery in December 2014.
The Disarticulators have shared the release details for their all new Oozeball sofubi toy – starting this Friday, October 24th at 9pm GMT, they’ll be available for open pre-order at the Man-E-Toys store for one month and are expected to ship in late January/early February next year! Measuring a little over 3 inches tall and true to its Ooze-it roots, the “OG” (original) colorway will be cast in unpainted deep green (picture below is only a preview) and super-squishy vinyl and is priced at only $50, including worldwide shipping. This will be the only pre-order for this toy as all of the future editions will be limited runs, so you better get one while you can!
But that’s not all for this Friday: on top of the pre-order, they’ll be releasing all of their remaining NYCC goodies at the same time. The Ooze and Stretch “Monster on Your Finger” Rings, the Rotten Tomato resin prototype and lots of Keshi figures await you!
Javier Jimenez has returned with two new Wananeko colorways: Halloween and Calico! The white Calico edition is already available for pre-order at his online shop in limited quantities for $60 each, whereas the orange Halloween version is going to be released on October 26th at 11am EST and is limited to nothing but 5 pieces worldwide. Wananeko stands about 12cm (4.7″) tall and is cast in resin!
The Disarticulators will be launching their new Oozeball figure at NYCC! A follow-up to last years hugely popular keshi-ball release, Tru:Tek has completely redesigned the figure from the ground up for the new medium, opting for a more organic, Ooze-It like face, paper clay-style textures and the pièce de résistance… a hidden face inspired by Georges Méliès iconic 1902 silent movie, Le Voyage dans la Lune! Beautifully sculpted by none other than Zectron, the 2-part design has been upscaled from the original 2″ diameter to little over 3″- making it both more in-keeping with the classic Madball scale, and, more interestingly, compatible with a wide variety of mid-sized kaiju with the base removed…
Dropping at booth #208 during the preview night, 10 grey resin prototypes will be available for $75 each, whereas the vinyl version can be pre-ordered for $40 each: available in original Ooze-it green and a NYCC exclusive silver glitter, both will be produced by Rampage Toys in squishy vinyl and are estimated to ship in January/February next year – pretty cool!
But that’s not all – in addition to the countless Keshi toys they’ll be taking to the Con (check out the full line-up at Man-e-toys), in celebration of the release of Triclops x Rampage Toys x Skull Head Butt‘s Rotten-X, The Disarticulators have decided to bring back the original Rotten Tomato Ball as a super-limited resin edition of 5 pieces for $60, as well as another 5 resin prototypes packed with the blank red sofubi edition for $80 per set. The resin prototypes will go on sale during preview night, while the vinyl edition set will be sold on Saturday, October 11th!
In other Kickstarter news today, here’s the Steamy Chums campaign! While they might be a little bit too “western” for most readers here, some people might enjoy these lovingly handmade resin figures with steampunk and tin-toy-inspired aesthetics, also considering that they’re only a few backers away from reaching their funding goal, as their campaign ends on Sunday. If these caught your interest, you can visit their Kickstarter page for several different sculpts and variants, painted and DIY versions, all for prices of 35€ and upwards!
Having recently participated in another Pandemonium show at One-Up, Gumtaro has been working on a new resin toy: Turban Lizard! With a size of 3.5″, you can find multiple handpainted colorways at One-Up for $54 each plus shipping.
Gorgoloid presents a surprise drop of unpainted Attack of the Mushroom People resin figures at his online shop: standing 2.75″ tall, they have been dyed with Monster Kolor dyes and come bagged with header card for a price of $27 each. Only one piece per color!
After selling out at the Tokyo Cat Fight show in Japan last July, a second batch of Javier Jimenez’ Wananeko resin figure will be released at his online shop on August 10th at 11am EST! Standing approximately 4.8″ tall, they’re priced at $60 a piece and come bagged with header card, including some themed stickers. The drop will be accompanied by a “Wananeko Anatomy” print, paying homage to Shigeru Mizuki’s yokai anatomy illustrations and coming priced at only $6 on A5 watercolor paper.
